National Tour Concert Lighting System Case

Large-Scale Live Performance Visual Solution

This project presents the concert lighting system applied during the national tour of Chinese singer Qishan Huang. The production traveled across multiple large venues, including indoor arenas and performance halls, where the lighting system was required to deliver strong visual impact, stable operation, and fast adaptability to varying stage environments.

Rather than highlighting individual fixtures, this case demonstrates a complete concert-grade lighting ecosystem — combining wash, beam, profile, pixel strobe, and audience lighting layers into a unified visual system engineered for high-demand touring conditions.

Project Requirements & Technical Challenges

Touring concerts impose stricter demands than fixed installations. The lighting system needed to address:

Long-throw optical performance for arena-scale spaces

High-speed strobe and pixel effects aligned with energetic music segments

Camera-friendly front lighting for broadcast and recording

Durable mechanical construction for repeated rigging and transport

Consistent performance across multiple cities and stage sizes

The objective was to balance high-impact live visuals with clean optical rendering for video capture, while ensuring operational reliability throughout the tour.

System Architecture Overview

The lighting design was structured into five functional layers, each contributing to the overall visual composition:

Lighting Function

Role in Performance

Stage Wash

Color atmosphere & scenic blending

Beam System

Long-distance aerial visual impact

Profile System

Performer key lighting & beam shaping

Pixel Strobe

Rhythm-driven dynamic visual accents

Audience Lighting

Crowd immersion & interaction

Stage Wash System

The primary color layer was built using AstraWash 1920 – 19×20W Moving Head Wash Light, providing broad, even stage coverage. Its high-saturation output supported background textures and emotional transitions, while smooth dimming ensured stable camera capture without visible stepping.

Dynamic Pixel Strobe System

Linear visual structures were formed with PixelStorm Frost Bar IP – LED Pixel Strobe Bar with Frost Effect, creating luminous stage lines that enhanced depth. Its frost wash mode and high-intensity strobe capability enabled smooth transitions between atmospheric haze scenes and high-energy rhythm accents.

Spatial dynamic effects were delivered by PixelStorm Moving IP – Moving Head LED Pixel Strobe, combining pixel control with moving mechanics to generate energetic bursts during chorus peaks and musical drops.

For large-area visual pulses, PixelStorm Box 112 IP – LED Pixel Strobe units produced high-density flash effects and graphic accents synchronized with fast-tempo passages.

Audience Interaction Layer

Audience immersion was strengthened through BlazeEye 4 – LED Audience Blinder fixtures. These units delivered powerful yet controlled blinder effects during climactic moments, visually connecting performer and crowd.

Performer Key & Shaping System

Main performer illumination was handled by VarioCut 1200 – 1200W LED Profile with CMY & CTO. Its framing system allowed precise beam shaping to isolate the singer, while CMY + CTO color control maintained natural skin tones for both live viewing and broadcast.

Atmospheric & Structural Fill

SolisPar 1810 IP – 18×10W RGBW LED Par units provided architectural and scenic fill lighting. Their IP-rated design supported flexible use across varying venue layouts and touring environments.

Long-Throw Beam System

The concert’s signature aerial effects were produced using StrikeBeam 420 – 420W Beam Light, delivering sharp, high-intensity beams visible even in large arenas, with tight optics maintaining definition through haze.

System Performance Results

✔ Rich multi-layered stage visuals

✔ Strong rhythm-synchronized pixel and strobe effects

✔ Clear, natural front lighting for HD video capture

✔ Stable operation under touring logistics

✔ Reduced heat and energy consumption through full LED architecture

The integrated lighting system maintained consistent visual quality and operational reliability throughout the tour schedule, demonstrating suitability for high-demand live productions.

Industry Application Value

This case reflects a scalable concert-grade lighting solution suitable for:

Touring production companies

Arena and theater installations

Music festivals and large entertainment events

Broadcast performance stages

It demonstrates not only fixture performance, but also system integration capability — the coordination of multiple lighting technologies into a cohesive, reliable visual platform.
